GL Jones AbilityWhirl - 2.4m Two Wheelchair Roundabout
This wheelchair roundabout was launched in the year 2000 and has won an award for it’s innovative design. The Ability Whirl has changed public open spaces by making them accesible to children of all abilities and are now used in hundreds of play areas, schools, hospices, hospitals and private gardens.
This roundabout is fitted flush to the ground to allow easy access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. It also has two enclosed wheelchair stations which are secured with locking safety gates. This ensures that the wheelchair user cannot move while the roundabout is in motion and tends to make children feel safer by eliminating their fear of falling out.
The Wheelchair roundabout can be fitted with a speed restrictor unit, which will limit the maximum rotating speed of the roundabout, as an optional extra. Seating options can also be varied by having two standard seats or one standard seat and one cradle seat for the young ones.
